Francesca Siclari

Francesca Siclari’s research focuses on the neural mechanisms underlying dreams and other forms of conscious mental activity during sleep. Her group combines high-density EEG, evoked potentials, serial-awakening paradigms, and pharmacological manipulations to relate subjective experiences to regional and temporal patterns of brain activity across sleep stages. The broader aim of this work is to understand how the brain generates, maintains, and recalls conscious experiences during sleep, both under typical conditions and in pathological states such as parasomnias and other sleep disorders.

David Norris

Professor, Donders Institute

David Norris’s research focuses on the use and development of magnetic resonance techniques for cognitive and medical neuroscience. His work centers on functional MRI, particularly laminar fMRI, and aims to improve the accuracy, spatial resolution, and temporal resolution of these methods, sometimes in combination with EEG or focused ultrasound. These methodological developments are driven by questions about human brain organization and information flow, including how activity across cortical layers can reveal the direction of neural processing. He is also closely involved in the Dutch national 14T MRI initiative, which is developing a high-field human MRI system in Nijmegen.
